by Roger Horne

Copyright and Copying Rights

It is not entirely clear whether a book that is made available on the Web, and only on the Web, can be said to be "published" in the normal sense of that expression, although there has been a considerable amount of academic discussion on the subject. (For a full bibliography, see a Scholarly Electronic Publishing Bibliography by Charles W Bailey Jnr.) In case it is possible there follows the information that would normally be found on at the begining of a printed book.

The files that make up this Web book were first published in 1996 by Roger Horne of 11 New Square, Lincoln's Inn, London WC2A 3QS.

No natural or unnatural forests were destroyed to make this product.

The extracts from statutes and statutory instruments are subject to Crown Copyright and all Crown Copyrights are reserved in the usual way and are acknowledged. The extracts are reproduced here by permission.

The copyright in the text is reserved to Roger Horne. Since this book is published on the Web there is no restriction on downloading it and copying it provided that no changes are made to the text and that if any part of it is quoted due acknowledgement is given.

The text of the main statutory material is taken from the internet version published by HMSO. The HTML coding has been altered in order to provide full cross-referencing and this could have caused errors to creep into the text. The extracts from other statutes are copied from the Queens' Printer's edition and may contain errors. Please remember that the only authorative version is the printed version.

The two shorter 1996 Statutory Instruments were copied from the printed versions. The Land Registration Rules 1996 were converted to HTML by me from SGML source provided by HMSO. Again, Please remember that the only authorative version is the printed version.
