The House of Lords has set up a Working Group to consider the format of bills, printed by either House of Parliament, and of Queen's Printer copies of Acts of Parliament. The Chairman of the Working Group, Mr P.D.G Hayter, wrote to various bodies asking for their views.

It was made clear that the Working Group will not consider the wider changes to the way legislation is drafted which are proposed in the the Tax Law Rewrite Project and is not concerned with the clarity of drafting.

I was asked to give a response on behalf of the Bar Council and this can be found here. Mr Hayter's letter had annexed to it a number of examples of the way in which Statutes could be formatted: I have not reproduced these on this site. Some of them can be found at the Tax Law Rewrite site.
